The purpose of this decision is to temporarily close the Community Chest and Community Energy Grants schemes to allow elected members to review the schemes’ criteria.

The Community Chest grants scheme has been run by the Council since 2011/12. The Community Energy Grants scheme was launched in March 2018.

To temporarily close the Community Chest and Community Energy Grants schemes to allow elected members to review the schemes’ criteria. Applications received on or before 31 May 2018 will be considered using the schemes existing criteria.

To ensure that applicants that have already applied or are in the process of applying for a grant are not disadvantaged by a review of the schemes. To ensure that the schemes continue to meet the needs of South Cambridgeshire residents.

Option 1: To review the Community Chest and Community Energy Grants schemes whilst applications continue to be received by the Council.

Reason for rejection: In order to provide clarity to applicants, whilst allowing elected members an opportunity to ensure that the schemes meet the needs of South Cambridgeshire residents.
