Housing Options for Older People (HOOP)

This council is working alongside Cambridgeshire County Council on a project offering specialist housing advice and support to older people. The project is funded by the County Council and is known as HOOP – Housing Options for Older people.

The service starts with a questionnaire asking older people about their home life and the types of support they might need.  The answers are used to put people in touch with local agencies, services and community groups that can provide a mixture of practical support and housing advice.  The aim is to help people make informed choices about their housing and well being.  This can result in people retaining their independence in their own homes for longer or help them understand the range of other suitable housing and support options that are available.

The HOOP service can be accessed on line at http://hoop.eac.org.uk/hoop or contacted by telephone on 0800 377 7070.   It’s free to use and is currently being introduced across South Cambridgeshire.
