Free Drop-in Advice Sessions for New and Existing Business Owners

From the beginning of June, new and existing businesses are being given the opportunity to attend FREE drop-in advice sessions and practical workshops at South Cambridgeshire District Council’s offices in Cambourne.

 

Residents who would like to start-up a business can attend:

  • A one-to-one session with an advisor to discuss their idea/plan
  • A ‘First Steps to Start-up’ two day workshop

 

Business owners or managers who would like advice on growing their business can attend:

  • A one-to-one session with an advisor
  • A ‘Growing your Business’ two day workshop

 

The advice and support will be provided by Nwes, the UK’s largest not-for-profit enterprise agency.

 

Please could you promote this free opportunity to your networks. We are keen to ensure that as many local residents and businesses as possible sign up.

Media Monitoring

Arising from the results of the Member Communication Needs Survey, many members highlighted the fact that residents found out about SCDC matters through the media.

 

The Council’s Communications Team will produce a weekly summary of recent news items to be published in the Bulletin to help keep members informed of recent coverage of SCDC.

View Planning Applications

To view the list of planning applications that have recently been submitted to the Council, please visit the authority’s on-line Planning Application Search.  Once the page has loaded, you can use the Search option to set your own criteria of parish, area and date range.

 

The system will provide a range of information on current and decided applications since 1948, including a brief description of the development, reference number, decision and the date of decision.  More recent applications show the name and telephone number of the council officer who is dealing with the application.

 

Search results are presented in a collection of pages, the number of which depends on the number of results your search produces.  There are navigation tools to allow you to browse your results.

 

 

 

EXECUTIVE DECISIONS TAKEN SINCE WEDNESDAY 23 MAY 2018

In accordance with the Access to Information Procedure Rules in Part 4 of the Council’s Constitution, any executive decision shall be published normally within five days of being made.  That record will bear the date on which it is published and will specify that the decision will come into force, and may then be implemented, on the expiry of 5 working days after the publication of the decision, unless called in for review by the Chairman of the Scrutiny and Overview Committee or by any five other councillors.

 

A list of decisions currently within the call-in period is available on the Council’s website.

 

The call in procedure is set out in full in Part 4 of the Council’s Constitution, ‘Scrutiny and Overview Committee Procedure Rules’

Community Chest and Community Energy Grants

The Leader and the Finance Portfolio Holder

 

AGREED        To temporarily close the Community Chest and Community Energy Grants schemes to allow elected members to review the schemes’ criteria. Applications received on or before 31 May 2018 will be considered using the schemes existing criteria.

 

This decision was first published on Thursday 24 May and so the deadline for call-in is 5pm on Friday 31 May (a day later than usual due to the Bank Holiday). If not called in the decision can be implemented on Monday 4 June.

Constituent Council Consent for Business Rates Supplement Order and Devolution of Adult Education Powers for the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority

Cabinet AGREED:

 

1)    To give consent to the making of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (Business Rate Supplements Functions) Order contained in Appendix 2, including the acceptance to any minor changes which do not alter the substantial meaning.

 

2)    To give consent to the making of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (Adult Education Functions) Order contained in Appendix 4, including acceptance to any minor changes which do not alter the substantial meaning.

 

Please note that, with the permission of the Chairman of Council and the Chairman of the Scrutiny and Overview Committee, this decision cannot be called-in and so can now be implemented.
