Community Right to Bid - Assets of Community Value

In Barrington - Barrington Stores & Post Office

The Council has approved the re-listing of Barrington Stores & Post Office as an Asset of Community Value until 11 March 2024.

In Foxton - The White Horse Public House

The Council has approved the re-listing of The White Horse Public House as an Asset of Community Value until 13 March 2024.

The Council will update the asset register accordingly.

Creating Dementia-Friendly Communities

Most people know someone living with, or affected by dementia - friend, neighbour, family, colleague. A dementia-friendly community supports people to continue to live well by increasing understanding of dementia and the small, supportive actions that can make a huge difference.

Creating a dementia-friendly community simply means:

. finding out what people living with dementia in the community value and want to keep doing and also what can make that hard. There might be some very simple solutions. For example, someone might want to go shopping but fear missing their stop and feeling disorientated and lost. Bus drivers who understand that this can happen, offering friendly support to make sure they get off at the right stop, can make all the difference.

. increasing understanding and breaking down the stigma surrounding dementia

. shops, businesses, organisations and individuals taking very simple actions that will make life easier for people affected by dementia

. local leadership, celebrating support where its already happening and encouraging others to do the same.

We can all benefit from a community that is dementia-friendly. Who doesn’t appreciate simple kindness, helpful service and clearly signed, easily accessible places?

Alzheimer’s Society can provide resources, advice and tools for you to make it happen, and offer you chances to connect with other communities doing the same. You can become part of a nationally recognised network of communities working to become dementia-friendly If you would like more information on how your community could become more dementia-friendly please contact Fiona Wynde at Alzheimer’s Society (Fiona.wynde@alzheimers.org.uk)

Working Effectively with Officers - Tuesday 26 March 2019 from 5pm to 8pm

District Councillors are invited to attend a workshop on "Working Effectively with Officers" in the Council Chamber, South Cambridgeshire Hall on Tuesday, 26 March 2019 from 5.00pm to 8.00pm

This workshop has been designed for South Cambridgeshire District Council to mirror workshops provided for officers focussed on building effective relationships with Members. It will provide an opportunity for Members to develop their understanding of the relationship; the ways in which they can develop their own working relationships with officers and to consider how the Council as a whole can develop this further.

Saturday 16 March 2019, BBC Online: Modern Slavery

Analysis of National Crime Agency figures by the LGA has revealed hat Council referrals of suspected victims of modern slavery have risen from 131 in 2013 to 1,306 in 2018, increasing by 66 per cent in the last year alone.

View Planning Applications

To view the list of planning applications that have recently been submitted to the Council, please visit the authority’s on-line Planning Application Search. Once the page has loaded, you can use the Search option to set your own criteria of parish, area and date range.

The system will provide a range of information on current and decided applications since 1948, including a brief description of the development, reference number, decision and the date of decision. More recent applications show the name and telephone number of the council officer who is dealing with the application.

Search results are presented in a collection of pages, the number of which depends on the number of results your search produces. There are navigation tools to allow you to browse your results.

EXECUTIVE DECISIONS TAKEN SINCE WEDNESDAY 13 MARCH 2019

In accordance with the Access to Information Procedure Rules in Part 4 of the Council’s Constitution, any executive decision shall be published normally within five days of being made. That record will bear the date on which it is published and will specify that the decision will come into force, and may then be implemented, on the expiry of 5 working days after the publication of the decision, unless called in for review by the Chairman of the Scrutiny and Overview Committee or by any five other councillors.

A list of decisions currently within the call-in period is available on the Council’s website.

The call in procedure is set out in full in Part 4 of the Council’s Constitution, ‘Scrutiny and Overview Committee Procedure Rules’.

Cottenham Neighbourhood Plan

The Lead Cabinet Member for Planning AGREED the Council’s response to the public consultation on the submission version of the Cottenham Neighbourhood Plan.

This decision was published on Wednesday 20 March and so the deadline for call-in is Wednesday 27 March at 5pm.

Purchase of 140 Cambridge Science Park

The Leader of Council AGREED to proceed with the purchase of 140 Cambridge Science Park.

With the agreement of the Chairman of Council and Vice-Chairman of the Scrutiny and Overview Committee, this decision is exempt from the call-in process and so can be implemented.
