Increase funding to Zero Carbon Communities (ZCC) Grants by £30,000

Decision Maker: Lead Cabinet member for Resources

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Increase the funding available for the Zero Carbon Communities (ZCC) Grant Scheme by £30,000 from £91,229 to £121,229.  This resulted from a discussion at Grants Advisory Committee (with CEAC members and the Lead Member for finance present).  It was felt that with the number and quality of applications to the scheme far exceeding the funding available, the Committee (in consultation with the Lead Member for finance) would like to increase the amount of grant funding available.

Decision:

To increase the funding available for the Zero Carbon Communities Grant Scheme by £30,000 from £91,229 to £121,229.

Reasons for the decision:

It was agreed at the Grants Advisory Committee meeting (with the Lead Member for Finance present) that the number and quality of applications to the scheme far exceeded the funding available.  Consequently, they wished to make more funding available to the scheme.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1: To maintain the ZCC grant fund at the original level - £91,229

This would not have allowed the Grants Advisory Committee to recommend that the Lead Cabinet Member for Finance fund the range and breadth of applications that were received.
