Decision details

To agree the Council’s member representation on the new Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire Planning and Transport Strategy Group. The Group will comprise three lead members each from South Cambridgeshire, Cambridge City and Cambridgeshire County Council. The Group will not be a decision-making body but will provide a forum for developing key planning and transport strategic issues concerning Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire. All decisions will be made at relevant meetings of the three Councils.

The Leader has appointed the following three members to the Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire Planning and Transport Strategy Group:

·                    Northstowe & New Communities Portfolio Holder

·                    Planning and Economic Development Portfolio Holder

·                    Major Opposition Group Leader

The Leader of Council has appointed himself as the reserve member.

To secure political balance.

Consideration of other options is not relevant as there is an overarching need for close working across the district boundary to produce coherent development and transport plans.
