AGREED

to adopt the Design Guidance set out in the Little Gransden Conservation Area Appraisal as Council Policy, subject to the incorporation of changes outlined in the appendix attached to the report.

 

Minutes:

Although the Conservation, Sustainability and Community Planning Portfolio Holder had delegated powers both to designate new Conservation Areas and to revise the boundaries of existing Conservation Areas, Conservation Area Appraisals now included design guidance and management proposals and had to be agreed as Council policy to add weight to determinations by the Development and Conservation Control Committee.  Councillor Mrs A Elsby, local Member for Little Gransden, reported that she was delighted with the design guidance and Cabinet

Little Gransden: Designation of a Conservation Area and Adoption of the Appraisal as Council Policy

To utilise the Portfolio Holder’s delegated authority to approve the designation of a Conservation Area at Little Gransden, together with the approval of the draft appraisal, and to take a report to Cabinet seeking the adoption of the appraisal as Council policy (subject to incorporation of the changes outlined in the report presented to the Conservation Advisory Group).

The quality of the village environment warrants the establishment of a Conservation Area and the proposed boundaries for the Conservation Area are appropriate.

Decision:

Recommended that the Conservation, Sustainability and Community Planning Portfolio Holder designates the Conservation Area and takes the draft appraisal to Cabinet to seek its adoption of the Appraisal as Council Policy, subject to the incorporation of the changes outlined in the Appendix to the report.

Minutes:

The Conservation Advisory Group considered a report on the outcome of the public consultation exercise on the proposed new Little Gransden Conservation Area Appraisal.

 

The Conservation Manager informed Members about the statutory requirement to advertise the proposal in the London Gazette.

 

The Conservation Advisory Group RECOMMENDED that the Conservation, Sustainability and Community Planning Portfolio Holder designates the Conservation Area and takes the draft appraisal to Cabinet to seek its adoption of the Appraisal as Council Policy, subject to the incorporation of the changes outlined in the Appendix to the Conservation Manager’s report.
