Minutes:

Cllr Jose Hales declared a non-pecuniary interest in relation to the applications fromMelbourn Bowls Club and Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire as ward member for Melbourn.

 

Cllr Bill Handley declared a non-pecuniary interest in relation to the application fromOver Youth Cafe as ward member for Over & Willingham.

The Grants Advisory Committee authorised the Chair to sign, as a correct record, the minutes of the meeting held Friday, 24 February 2023.

Guest speaker - Hope CIC

Minutes:

Councillor Jose Hales welcomed Director of Hope CIC, Mahesh Hettiarachchi to the Grants Committee.

 

Mr Hettiarachchi told the Committee how the Community Chest Grant funded the project which allowed 56 Christmas hampers to be distributed to disadvantaged residents across South Cambridgeshire in 2022.

 

Mr Hettiarachchi shared pictures and thank you messages with members and officers and thanked them for their support.

It was noted, a total of eight applications were received between 6 February 2023 to 13 March 2023 which were brought forward to the Grants Advisory Committee. After consideration of the applications, the Committee recommended to the Lead Cabinet Member for Resources that the following awards would be made, subject to agreement by Council on budget, and subject to annual funding agreements with the organisations concerned:

 

Melbourn Bowls Club (XNGCHBKR) – Would be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £1,264.60

 

Magpas Air Ambulance (NZKBXMQF) – Would be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £2,000

 

Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South

Cambridgeshire (incorporated as Home-Start Royston and

South Cambridgeshire) (GLLSLHRJ) – Would be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £2,000

 

Over Youth Cafe (DJRLRJBS) – Would be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £2,000

 

Friends of Duxford Green Spaces (TFLNZMJX) – Would be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £1,911

 

Eltisley Parish Council (XNWJNQBX) – Would be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £220    40:00

 

Let's Run Girls Ltd (MDSFPTQP) – Would be deferred pending further information.

 

Steeple Morden Village Hall (TWPMGFKK) – Previously deferred, would not be funded at the full amount requested of £2,000

 

As per above, the application from Let's Run Girls Ltd (MDSFPTQP) request of £1,650 was deferred, pending further information on the group’s ethos and background. It was requested that contact was made with the parish council on whether they were in support or not.

 

As per above, the application from Steeple Morden Village Hall (TWPMGFKK) was not funded as it was agreed the application was more suited to the Council’s Zero Carbon Communities grant fund.
