Devolution Briefing on 10 November at 6:30pm

The Devolution Briefing, which was scheduled for Thursday 13 October has been moved to Thursday 10 November at 6:30pm, as the information from the Government will be received a month later than expected.

Housing Briefing: Thu 17 Nov. at 10am

On Thursday 17 November Stephen Hills, Director of Housing, is giving a briefing for district councillors at 10am in the Council Chamber. The briefing will cover the following issues:

·         The role of the local authority as housing delivery enablers as envisaged by the Elphicke House report

·         The role of housing in contributing to place making

·         The role of housing in relation to health and well being

 

The session is designed to relate these strategic themes to specific Council led projects and to the Council's corporate objectives - Stephen Kelly Director of Planning and Economic Growth will also be in attendance.

 

The feedback from this session will help with shaping the development of a new housing strategy for 2017 to be undertaken in conjunction with Cambridge City Council.

The Government is to “delay” extending Right to Buy to housing associations, with the policy no longer at the top-of its “to-do list”, according to the official in charge of implementing it.

 

Monday 7 November: Telegraph Business p1: Javid warns homebuilders to speed up

The Communities Secretary Sajid Javid says the Government is to consider “a process of carrots and sticks” to incentivise developers to speed up the building of new homes.

 

Monday 7 November: BBC Online: Lower benefits cap comes into force

A cut in the benefits cap – a limit on the income working age households can receive in certain benefits – has now come into force.

 

Tuesday 8 November: Mirror: Government has “no intention to raise the benefit cap even if inflation rises”

Work and Pensions Secretary Damian Green said there was “no intention to reconsider the cap” – even if inflation jumps beyond 2.5%, the Mirror claims.

 

Wednesday 9 November: Telegraph: Theresa May puts 1,200 soldiers on standby to tackle winter floods

The Prime Minister has placed three battalions of up to 1,200 soldiers on 24-hour standby to help if England suffers flooding this winter.

View Planning Applications

To view the list of planning applications that have recently been submitted to the Council, please visit the authority’s on-line Planning Application Search.  Once the page has loaded, you can use the Search option to set your own criteria of parish, area and date range.

 

The system will provide a range of information on current and decided applications since 1948, including a brief description of the development, reference number, decision and the date of decision.  More recent applications show the name and telephone number of the council officer who is dealing with the application.

 

Search results are presented in a collection of pages, the number of which depends on the number of results your search produces.  There are navigation tools to allow you to browse your results.

 

 

 

EXECUTIVE DECISIONS TAKEN SINCE WEDNESDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2016

In accordance with the Access to Information Procedure Rules in Part 4 of the Council’s Constitution, any executive decision shall be published normally within five days of being made.  That record will bear the date on which it is published and will specify that the decision will come into force, and may then be implemented, on the expiry of 5 working days after the publication of the decision, unless called in for review by the Chairman of the Scrutiny and Overview Committee or by any five other councillors.

11.

Neighbourhood Plans: Stapleford & Great Shelford Neighbourhood Area designation

ThePlanning Portfolio Holder:

 

(a)          delegated authority to the Joint Director for Planning and Economic Development to approve the designation of a Neighbourhood Area for Stapleford and Great Shelford, following the end of the consultation on 2 November 2016 should there be no objections received; and

 

(b)          resolved to make a decision outside of a meeting, that would be subject to call-in, should any objections be received.

 

This decision was first published on Tuesday 8 November, so the deadline for call-in is 5pm on Tuesday 15 November. If not called-in this decision can be implemented on Wednesday 16 November.

Adoption of Cambridgeshire Flood and Water Supplementary Planning Document

The Planning Portfolio Holder:

 

(a)          considered the representations received on the draft Cambridgeshire Flood and Water Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) and agreed the Council’s responses (as included in Annex B of Appendix 3 of the report from the Joint Director for Planning and Economic Development);

 

(b)          approved the adoption of the Cambridgeshire Flood and Water Supplementary Planning Document  (see Appendix 1 of the report);

 

(c)          agreed the ‘Adoption and Maintenance of Sustainable Drainage Systems in South Cambridgeshire’ document (see Appendix 2 of this report) as Council Policy and be used as a material consideration when considering planning applications; and
