New Street lighting policy and upgrade to low-energy LEDs In December Cabinet approved a policy for the 1800 streetlights it maintains in partnership with 84 parishes across the district.
The policy can be found on our website at streetlighting and sets out: o Our responsibilities for the repair and maintenance of the lights and the expected service standards. o A requirement for the approval of any new attachments to a streetlights, such as signs and vehicle speed monitoring devices, to ensure safety, which can be found here. o Our responsibility to maintain a detailed inventory of the lights. The policy also includes plans to upgrade the streetlights to low-energy LEDs, which will begin this year and reduce the energy they use by 60% and electricity bills to parishes. The Council will work closely with parishes via Parish Clerks throughout the planning and delivery of the upgrade. Innovate & Cultivate Fund Application Deadline The next deadline for Innovate & Cultivate Fund grant applications is 1 February 2020.
The aim of the fund is to support initiatives that strengthen our communities and reduce pressure on County Council services, thereby giving a return on investment. The fund’s key priorities are Adult Social Care and Children & Families services.
The fund is open to voluntary, community and social enterprise sector organisations based in and outside of Cambridgeshire, and public sector organisations in Cambridgeshire.
There are two funding streams:
1) A ‘Cultivate’ fund for smaller projects that build community support networks (grants of £2,000 - £19,000). 2) An ‘Innovate’ fund for bigger, bolder and more innovative initiatives (grants of £19,001 - £50,000).
