The Handyperson Service

The Handyperson Service exists to assist older people and adults with a disability living in Cambridgeshire (excluding Peterborough).

 

Their service completes small handyperson jobs such as putting up shelves, curtain poles, building flat pack furniture, replacing toilet seats, changing light bulbs etc.

 

They charge £30 per hour plus materials and can be contacted on 01480 700205 or emailed: chp@ageukcap.org.uk

Councils are to be given powers to shut pubs and bars that flout COVID-10 rules, after requests by the LGA.

 

Tuesday 27 October, Financial Times: Planning reforms

Industry experts warn that the Government’s proposed shake-up of planning rules in England will have the effect of stalling housebuilding for several years while councils are forced to rewrite their local development blueprints for new homes.

 

Wednesday 28 October, Guardian: Homelessness in rural England up 115 per cent

Analysis by the countryside charity CPRE and the Rural Services Network has found that homelessness in rural areas of England has more than doubled in the last two years.

To view the list of planning applications that have recently been submitted to the Council, please visit the authority’s on-line Planning Application Search. 

 

The system will provide a range of information on current and decided applications since 1948, including a brief description of the development, reference number, decision and the date of decision.  More recent applications show the name and telephone number of the council officer who is dealing with the application.

 

Search results are presented in a collection of pages, the number of which depends on the number of results your search produces.  There are navigation tools to allow you to browse your results.

Council's response to Network Rail's consultation on the Ely Area Capacity Enhancement Scheme

The Deputy Leader agreed the response to Network Rail’s consultation on the Ely Area Capacity Enhancement Scheme as set out in Appendix A. Delegated authority given to the Joint Director for Planning and Economic Development to agree any minor amendments to the response agreed by the City Council that are consistent with the response at Appendix A.

Response to Government Consultation: Planning for the Future White Paper

The Lead Cabinet Member for Planning agreed the response to the Government’s consultation on the White Paper as set out in Appendix 1.

Compulsory Purchase Policy

Cabinet:

 

Approved the Compulsory Purchase Order Policy as the basis for considering the use of compulsory purchase powers to acquire land or property interests for the purpose of carrying out development, redevelopment or improvement, where there is a compelling case in the public interest to do so, subject to further minor amendments resulting from the Scrutiny and Overview Committee review.

Pre-application fees proposal

Cabinet recommended to the Lead Cabinet Member for Planning to agree the proposals for the Council to introduce the revised pre-application service offer and charging schedule set out in this report for the Council area from 2 November 2020, subject to provision being made for discounts for Parish Councils.
