Mobile Warden Scheme Grants 2021 - 24 pdf icon PDF 149 KB

Additional documents:

Minutes:

The amount available to the Mobile Warden Schemes had been increased due to some leftover capital from the procurement scheme which had run in 2020, it was noted that the length of the contract was to be increased from 1 year to 3 years.

The Committee noted that all incremental increases in funding for the schemes were based on cost increases, inflationary and otherwise.

It was remarked that Haslingfield Parish Council had indicated that they did not wish to sign-up for a 3-year agreement, a meeting was going to be taking place to decide whether or not to take up the agreement. If not, it was noted that it may be possible for other schemes to include this area in their patch. It was agreed that Lesley McFarlane would email out additional information to Members of the Committee.

It was requested that officers review changing the name of the scheme to Community Wardens to remove negative perceptions around Mobile Warden Schemes and align with the Age UK schemes, which refer to the schemes as a Community Wardens.

It was also suggested that officers consider running an article in the South Cambs magazine to advertise the service to younger residents.

The Grants Advisory Committee agree to fund the amounts set out below:

  • 2021-2022 £33,800
  • 2022-2023 £53,202
  • 2023-2024 £71,708

Update on the Covid Community Grant

Minutes:

The Chair varied the order of business to allow this to be taken as the fifth item of the agenda.

Rolled over the existing budget for the Community Chest into a community grant scheme, it was noted that all applications would be brought to the Grants Advisory Committee meeting in May.

Each application will need to be taken on its individual merits as there are few restrictions, applications are encouraged to be brought in as they stand. The decisions will be left to the Committee to be made.

The information on the Covid recovery grant scheme had been distributed to Members, Parish Councils and Community Groups.
