Volunteering in Your Community

We would like to thank all volunteers across the District who have supported our most vulnerable residents throughout the pandemic. Volunteering is known to improve both physical and mental health and wellbeing, increase confidence, provide new skills and valuable work experience along with a sense of connection to others in the community. If you’ve volunteered your time during the pandemic and are  thinking about getting involved in other community projects, we would love to hear from you! Check out our Community action case studies webpage for inspiration from other local groups. If you’d like to find out more about the support we can offer, please email Emma Dyer at CLP@scambs.gov.uk

Following our successful event on 22 November showcasing local community action and community led plans, we are holding another event on 7 March.  The event will showcase more ideas for community action projects and provide information about the difference between a ‘Neighbourhood’ and ‘Community-Led’ Plan

In addition, CCVS are offering two free online Volunteer Fairs- 1-2pm on both Tuesday 25 January and Tuesday 1 February. These sessions, held over two lunchtimes will help you find out what roles are available in your community, what would suit you, and how to get involved.

Some fantastic organisations are presenting, who offer a mixture of face to face, and virtual volunteering. Some offer training and require a regular commitment while others want as little as a few hours to help out at a fun event.

Feel free to attend for part of an event if that’s all you can manage – and bring your lunch! There will be short presentations followed by opportunities to ask questions.

The schedule of organisations who will be presenting and booking details can be found on the CCVS website. Booking is essential to receive the link to join the event.
