South Cambridgeshire Christmas Market 2023 - Business Key Projects Team pdf icon PDF 681 KB

On Sunday 10th December 2023, from 11:00 until 15:00, South Cambridgeshire District Council is proudly hosting an indoor Christmas Market, at Cambourne Village College CB23 6FR, presenting local independent traders of all crafts from the district. The market is a follow-on from the highly successful Christmas Market in 2022 and will once again feature a diverse selection of businesspeople across 70 stalls with fantastic mobile food and drink caterers available to provide festive and warming refreshments.

At the Council, the Economic Development & Investments Team continues to support local businesses facing economically challenges whilst supporting local markets across the district. We recognise markets have always been cornerstones of our rural communities and we remain wholly committed to our Markets Programme which endeavours to continually provide trading opportunities to both market organisers and stallholders.

To that end, please kindly support our Christmas Market by visiting on Sunday 10th December 2023 for an event brimming with yuletide cheer, gift ideas and much more.

Lastly, we would very much appreciate our local Councillors promoting the news of our Christmas Market on their social media platforms and to our Parishes. We also welcome the opportunity to hear from our Councillors about volunteering at the event should they wish.

For more information, please visit Christmas Market 2023 or contact the Team at businesskeyprojects@scambs.gov.uk.

We look forward to seeing you there!

East West Rail Drop-in Event

If your parish is close to the proposed EWR route, we would be grateful if you could you share the below invite with any community groups or societies within your community:

You may be aware that the East West Rail Company made their route announcement in May this year. As part of this, they are working on a statutory consultation on the proposed route alignment and would like to invite community groups/societies to a pre-consultation meeting to hear more about the proposal and how it may affect you and your community.

The following drop-in event has been arranged in South Cambridgeshire, which will also provide you with an opportunity to share information about your local group or organisation:

·         Harston Village Hall (1 December between2pm and 7pm)

You are welcome to take an additional member of your group or organisation. If you can’t make it, then you’re more than welcome to send someone else in your place. As this is an invite-only event, you are asked to confirm your attendance by completing the RSVP here. This will help them ensure there are enough refreshments on the day. If you have any questions at all, or any access requirements, then please email: community@eastwestrail.co.uk

5.

POSTPONED: Policing in South Cambs - have your say

The police engagement event planned for Tuesday 7th November 7-8pm was postponed and will now be held on Tuesday 28th November 7-8pm. If you signed up for the 7th November event, you will be contacted directly with details for the new date. If you did not sign up previously but would like to log in on 28th November, please email communitysafety@scambs.gov.uk for more details.

Each quarter you can complete an online Community Policing Survey (office.com) so police can build up a picture of what is happening in your area and what is concerning you most. The engagement event will involve a report from the officers policing your area about recent activity and the results of the survey. Police promise to listen to your concerns and allow you to shape future activity. More details of both the engagement event, and survey, can be found at: South Cambridgeshire | Cambridgeshire Constabulary (cambs.police.uk) and we would appreciate your help advertising these opportunities to your local councillor colleagues and community groups.

Neighbourhood Watch are running webinars next week to raise awareness of a number of “hidden crimes”:

·         Modern slavery and human trafficking – a topic which affects the most vulnerable in our society.

·         Domestic violence and abuse - an objective look at how we can spot the signs and what we can do to help.

·         Crimes affecting young people: Radicalisation – often a crime that does not get talked about until something happens.

·         Controlling and coercive behaviour – another form of abuse that controls how a partner in a relationship behaves.

Over a four day period from Monday 20th – Thursday 23rd November, we invite you to join the conversation with us and ask questions of independent experts. Please see the webinars page of the Neighbourhood Watch website for more information.
