Information about Development and Conservation Control Committee (see also Planning Committee)

The Development and Conservation Control Committee is one of the Council’s five Regulatory Committees, which are bodies which have decision-making powers and report to full Council.  Membership is decided at Annual Council.  Further details about the responsibilities of each Regulatory Committee are available in Part 2: Article 8 and Part 3 of the Constitution.

Planning applications may be decided by officers or the Development and Conservation Control Committee, which meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 am in the Council Chamber. The meetings of the Development and Conservation Control Committee are open to the public. Planning policy issues, such as the Local Plan, are the responsibility of the Cabinet and Council.

On 27 July 2006 Council agreed that this body be re-named the Planning Committee.
