The Housing Portfolio Holder
AGREED To endorse and adopt the updated version of the Disability Equality Scheme 2009 – 2012 on behalf of the Council.
The Housing Portfolio Holder endorsed the updated version of the Comprehensive Equalities Policy 2009 – 2012, as further amended at the meeting, and adopted it on behalf of the Council. Cabinet adopted the original version of the Comprehensive Equalities Policy in April 2009 and the majority of the text of the previous version has been retained, but the new version provides some changes, which are detailed in paragraphs 13 and 14 of the report.
The Housing Portfolio Holder endorsed and recommended that the updated version of the draft Disability Equality Scheme, as further amended at the meeting, be published for a 12-week consultation period with internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that the Council is fully compliant with the statutory duty set out in the Disability Discrimination Act 2005.
Cabinet AGREED to adopt the final version of the revised Gender Equality Scheme.
The Housing Portfolio Holder AGREED that the revised Gender Equality Scheme 2010-2013 be approved for a three-week consultation, and that authority be delegated to the Executive Director (Operational Services) to approve a final consultation draft incorporating Senior Management Team’s comments, and any additional feedback the Portfolio Holder may wish to make.
Subject to the minor wording amendments agreed at the meeting, the Housing Portfolio Holder ENDORSED the draft Disability Equality Scheme and RECOMMENDED a 12-week consultation period with internal and external stakeholders.
Cabinet AGREED to adopt the new Gender Equality Scheme and revised Race Equality Scheme.
The Housing Portfolio Holder ENDORSED, subject to the minor amendments discussed at the meeting, the draft Gender Equality Scheme and Race Equality Scheme and AGREED to recommend that Cabinet adopt the equality schemes in September 2009.
The Staffing Portfolio Holder
AGREED to endorse and recommend the draft Gender Equality Scheme and Race Equality Scheme for a 12-week consultation period with internal and external stakeholders.
Cabinet RESOLVED that the Comprehensive Equalities Policy 2009-2012 be adopted, subject to the Portfolio Holder for Equalities being authorised to make further minor editing changes prior to final publication.
The Staffing Portfolio Holder ENDORSED the draft Comprehensive Equalities Policy 2009-2012 and recommended that Cabinet adopt the new policy at its meeting on 16 April 2009.
