The Committee refused the application for the reasons set out in the report from the Head of Development Management.


05/02/2016 - S/2770/15/FL - Sawston (76-78 High Street)

The Committee approved the application subject to the Conditions set out in the report from the Planning and New Communities Director, and two additional Conditions requiring a minimum on-site parking layout, and the placement of bollards to the front of the property in order to prevent on-street parking.


04/11/2015 - S/1515/15/OL - Sawston (Mill Lane)

The Committee gave officers delegated powers to approve the Outline application (as amended) subject to the prior completion of a Legal Agreement under Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, securing appropriate developer contributions that are compliant with Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations, the Conditions referred to in the report from the Planning and New Communities Director, and presentation, in due course, of the Reserved Matters application for determination by the Planning Committee.

The Committee refused the application for the reasons set out in the report from the Planning and New Communities Director, Reason 1 being expanded to clarify the extent to which the proposal conflicted with Policy ST/1 of the Local Development Framework 2007, relating to the Green Belt.


11/12/2014 - S/2409/14/FL- Sawston (Land North of Dales Manor Business Park, West Way)

The Committee refused the application, contrary to the recommendation in the report from the Planning and New Communities Director. Members agreed the reasons for refusal as being that no very special circumstances had been demonstrated for the development that would clearly outweigh the harm to the Green Belt through inappropriateness and other harm from coalescence

The Committee refused the application, contrary to the recommendation in the report from the Planning and New Communities Director. Members agreed the reasons for refusal as being:

1.    Inappropriate development in the Green Belt

2.    Other harm through visual impact that would adversely affect the residential amenity of North Farmhouse, and lead to coalescence through encroachment into land that separates the villages of Sawston and Babraham

3.    no very special circumstances have been demonstrated that would clearly outweigh the harm to the Green Belt through inappropriateness and other harm.

02/02/2012 - Sawston - Proposed diversion of Footpath 18

The Committee resolved to make an Order under Section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 diverting Public Footpath number 18 in Sawston between Mill Lane and The Baulks (Footpath number 20), and to ask officers to arrange for the appropriate Notices to be published in order that the Order can be confirmed in due course, thus enabling the development proposed by planning application S/2435/07/F to take place.

The Committee was Minded to Approve the application, subject to it being referred to the Secretary of State as a departure from the Development Plan and not called in by him for determination, to the prior completion of a Section 106 Legal Agreement requiring the site to be occupied as a single planning unit and to the Conditions referred to in the report from the Corporate Manager (Planning and New Communities).
