Decision details

Standing in the name of Councillor Sebastian Kindersley

Decision Maker: Council, Executive Director, Operational Services

Decision status: Recommendations approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

In 2009 the Council embarked upon a procurement process under the Public Procurement Regulations 2006 by way of restricted procedure, for its housing day to day responsive repairs, void property repairs, package repairs and emergency out of hours service.  An Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) compliant process has resulted in the most economically advantageous tender being selected.

See also the Housing Services Review, during which Cabinet agreed, on 12 November 2009, that the district responsive repairs contract be exposed to competitive tendering.

Decision:

Councillor Sebastian Kindersley, seconded by Councillor Liz Heazell, moved that “This Council agrees to immediately cancel the competitive tendering exercise for Responsive Repairs on the basis that the exercise is costing this Council money unnecessarily and destabilising a profitable arm of the Council.”

On being put to the vote, the motion was declared LOST.
