Purpose:

To adopt revisions to the existing policy that reflect changes announced by Central Government in the Budget on 29^th October 2018.

Decision:

The Lead Cabinet Member for Finance has agreed to the revisions, and adopts the formal policy shown in APPENDIX A.

Reasons for the decision:

Changes were announced in the Budget to introduce a new business rates relief for occupied retail premises with an RV of less than £51,000. An existing relief scheme for newspapers was also extended.

The Government have expressed the expectation that relief be delivered in annual bills, and the policy has been amended to facilitate awards of the relief in line with government guidance.
