Decision details

Discretionary Disabled Facility Grant Policy for Children Residing at premises that are not their main residence

Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Abandoned

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The item was presented to Cabinet on 9 February 2006 due to the anticipation of an application for a grant under the circumstances where a child spent time in two different houses and therefore would require adaptation in both houses. On the advice of Dale Robinson, Corporate Manager, Health and Environmental Services on 16 August 2007, the application had not materialised and therefore could be removed from the Forward Plan.

Decisions:

Cabinet considered the request for a Disabled Facility Grant (DFG) for a dwelling which was not the main residence of the applicant.  Queries were made about the underlying issue of providing two grants for any one family for more than one dwelling and Cabinet

DEFERRED

a decision pending further investigation into whether a more cost-effective solution could be found; and

AGREED

that a further report be brought to Cabinet to consider a policy on grants to the same family for adaptations to more than one dwelling.

A request was made that floor plans accompany a further report on this specific case.
