It was agreed that as a result of the approval of the MTFS by Council on 23 November 2006, the dog warden service would be restricted to meeting only the Council’s statutory duty, under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Legislative enforcement, complaint investigation, educational activities, information and advice, including complaints about dog ownership, nuisance and dangerous dogs, dog fouling would no longer be provided. |
The savings required by the MTFS in relation to the dog warden service could only be achieved by the deletion of the dog warden post and all elements of the dog service, except those dealing with stray dogs in order to meet the Council’s statutory duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. |
