Information and Networking Event for Parish Councils, Young People's Groups and Community Members pdf icon PDF 238 KB

Do you work with young people or know of people who do?

Do you know of volunteers or parish councillors looking to make a difference to young people's lives?

Would you like to set up or run a group, a one-off activity or a focussed short-term project for the young people in your area?

Would you like to get young people involved in the work of your parish council?

Whether you're experienced in youth work or new to the field, this event could be for you.

Come along to Milton Country Park visitor centre on Tuesday 8th November between 5-7pm for information about:

  • funding and resources for young people's work (from experienced fundraisers and funding bodies)
  • training and safeguarding information (from those in the youth work sector)
  • governance, insurance and responsibilities in a more formal setting (from a local umbrella support body)
  • flexible options for building and non building-based settings (from those delivering both)
  • case studies from those who have been there, done that (experiences from people who have started something from scratch)
  • signposting and networking (stalls from organisations that can provide information and support)

Some light refreshments will be provided.  Book your place via duty.communities@scambs.gov.uk

3.

Efficiency Plan

The Council’s efficiency plan is available by clicking on the link below:

https://www.scambs.gov.uk/content/efficiency-plan

Rough Sleeping Estimate 2016 pdf icon PDF 223 KB

Every year the Council needs to estimate the number of people sleeping rough in the district. Please can you contact Sue Carter or Heather Wood if you are aware of anyone sleeping rough in your community, overnight between 9-10 November 2016.  It will be helpful to know where the rough sleeper is located to prevent double counting.  The definition of a rough sleeper is as follows:

People sleeping, about to bed down (sitting on/in or standing next to their bedding) or actually bedded down in the open air (such as on the streets, in tents, doorways, parks, bus shelters or encampments). People in buildings or other places not designed for habitation (such as stairwells, barns, sheds, car parks, cars, derelict boats, stations, or “bashes”).

In addition, please find attached a copy of our fact sheet for Cold Weather Provision.  These arrangements are to ensure there is a humanitarian response to prevent rough sleepers dying from the cold while there is severe weather.

UPCOMING DISTRICT COUNCILLOR TRAINING

Unless otherwise specified, please confirm your availability to attend any of the following briefing or training events by contacting Patrick Adams on 01954 713408. This will ensure your training records are kept up to date and suitable venue and catering booking can be made. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

5.
